Missions in Africa
The Africa Missions project, known as “Schools of Ministry” is managed by New Beginnings Christian Church on the Gold Coast in Australia.
Every cent received goes towards setting up new schools of ministry. Each school receives a TV, DVD player and DVDs, books, and other miscellaneous items as we gather them. The basic cost to set up one school is $350, or $600 if a solar panel is required to support the intermittent power supply in African countries.
Currently there are more than 400 schools in Zambia, DR Congo, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda – all established with the support of Ken Legg, our local church, New Beginnings Gold Coast and a local church in Victoria, Paynesville Christian Church.
In the past we have accepted the generous donation of “space” in a container to carry our supplies to Africa. To utilise this precious space effectively we also have been able to accept donations of laptops (in good working condition), USB sticks, stationery, Christian books and medical items.
When Ken and the Missions team travel to Africa, they travel light with personal items, but use maximum baggage allowances to take over essential supplies for the Schools of Ministry. Of course in 2020 and 2021, international travel has not been possible.
Words cannot express the appreciation of our brothers and sisters in Africa when they receive these gifts. These may seem small contributions to us, but to them, it is overwhelmingly appreciated. Our joy is being able to assist in bringing the truth of God to these faithful God-seeking people.
